As a member of our Revenue Contract Accounting team, this Revenue Contract Accountant, Mid-Level (between Staff and Senior Accountant) position will allow you to assist in revenue forecasting, actual vs. forecast variance analyses, cross-period analyses for revenue account balances, month-end close activities, revenue contract analyses and research, and other ad hoc projects as assigned. This position will report to the Accounting Manager and does not have any direct reports.

This position can be based out of one of our SW Missouri offices, our Lenexa, KS office, Allen, TX office or remotely throughout the U.S.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Prepares journal entries during month-end closes.
  • Performs P&L reconciliation and analysis for assigned P&L accounts.
  • Performs balance sheet account analysis and reconciliation to the General Ledger.
  • Performs monthly forecasts for assigned revenue P&L accounts.
  • Prepares disclosure support files for 10Qs and 10Ks during quarterly closes.
  • Performs actual vs. forecast variance analyses, cross-period analyses for revenue accounts, provides explanations on variances, compiles various analyses for management review on a periodic basis.
  • Conducts research projects in specific area of accounting and responds to inquiries received (whether from other teams within Jack Henry and Associates or from our external auditors).
  • Reviews, monitors, and resolves reports pertaining to billing and revenue contracts.
  • Identifies areas that need improvements in processes and procedures of monthly closes and forecasts, brainstorms ideas of improvements with managers and assists in implementing such ideas to enhance overall efficiency.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned. 

What you’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Accounting.
What would be nice for you to have:

  • MBA and/or CPA or other related professional certification desired. 
  • High Excel proficiency in v/h/xlookup, sumif, sumifs, countif, and pivot tables. Able to use a combination of various formulas and functions in Excel to resolve an issue or deliver a desired result. This position constantly has large volume of data in Excel format that needs to be compiled, analyzed and summarized into an understandable presentation.
  • Experience in ASC 606 and/or revenue recognition in software company.
  • Ability to bring creativity, “Think outside of the box” attitude to the position while at the same time providing consistent, accurate financial analysis. 
  • Knowledge of or experience with Oracle, Peoplesoft, RevPro, Blackline, OneStream, or SalesForce.
  • Effectively plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Possess strong business acumen and desire to strengthen knowledge of the business/industry.
  • Ability to make recommendations in order to improve efficiency of processes and procedures.
