As an Application Engineer working in Symitar – a Jack Henry brand – you will perform system analysis, technical support, and consulting services to Symitar clients that use our Continuity Suite of products.  While working closely with our clients, the selected candidate will implement our disaster recovery solutions, train the client on the use of them according to our best practices, assist them in testing of the solution during off-hours, and provide disaster recovery support for unplanned outages.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and independent. In this role, you will work with project managers, but must stay on top of your own timelines. The team consists of a small, close-knit group that excels working in the fast-paced Symitar environment. There is a consulting and support aspect to the service you will provide, so consistent client interaction is a vital component of the role.

This position can be based to work out of any Jack Henry office location or remote from any US location.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site or remote installations, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
  • Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment.
  • Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
  • Performs on-site or remote customer work including design, installations, repairs, testing, upgrades and/or maintenance on technical products.
  • Identifies customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.
  • Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.  Resolves customer problems and answers questions.
  • Serves as liaison between the company and customers.
  • Conveys customer feedback to technical design and engineering staff.
  • May provide ongoing application, network and security support including servers, firewalls, routers, active directories, etc.
  • May perform other job duties as assigned

What you’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of 18 months of experience in applications analysis, technical support, and/or software implementation.
  • Ability to work a variable, flexible shift consisting of an 8-hour workday.
  • Ability to work an on-call after hours rotation schedule.
  • Must have experience working in a financial/credit union or related industry.
  • Must have customer-facing experience in a technical or banking role.
  • Must be able to travel up to 5% for meetings, trainings, or onsite implementations.

What would be nice for you to have:

  • Experience with Symitar/Episys preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
  •  Previous experience with Unix.
  • Experience with disaster recovery or business continuity planning.
  • Experience with JHA products, equivalent competitor products, and understanding of application functions.
